THE DIVINE ORDER and THE UNIVERSE
Metapsychical Investigations and Scientific Research Society (MISRS)
The Society's Origin
The Metapsychical Investigations and Scientific Research Society was founded in 1950 by Dr. Bedri Ruhselman, who was a medical doctor. It has been in operation ever since, and has been expanding constantly.
Purpose
The purpose of the Metapsychical Investigations and Scientific Research Society is:
1. to study spiritual (psychic) phenomena, explaining them in a scientific way;
2. to carry out all kinds of psychic experiments and research in order to investigate human existence;
3. to conduct various practical studies with the purpose of helping people physically and spiritually;
4. to work towards the expansion of higher moral principles and help bring to light superior values; and
5. to advance the understanding of events and abilities commonly described as 'psychic' or 'paranormal', without prejudice and in a scientific spirit.
The Society accomplishes these aims through the promotion of research and the publication of scholarly reports. It also organizes educational activities and publications to keep the general interested public informed about current, relevant research.
Field of Study
The principal areas of interest in our psychical research are mediumistic studies and spiritual communication through hypnotic processes, and educational studies to evaluate the large volume of knowledge received through mediumistic séances. Other areas include extrasensory perception, by which someone appears to acquire information concerning an event or another person by unknown means, and pyschokinesis, the phenomenon wherein someone appears to be inexplicably able to influence the physical environment through psychic power alone.
Educational Activities
Informing the interested public about psychical research is an important aspect of the Society's efforts. The Society aims to provide its members with a basis on which to reach their own informed judgments on the challenging and often complex issues involved, and to convey excitement and fascination in the participation of such vital areas of research. With this approach, our educational activities can be put into two main categories: verbal activities and publications.
A) Verbal Activities
1. Regular free public conferences on Tuesday evenings;
2. Monthly lectures in other parts of Turkey (mainly in Ankara and Izmir);
3. On-going three-month seminars covering the various aspects of pyschical research;
4. Special studies and weekly round-table discussions conducted by the Society members;
5. Sound and video cassettes prepared for those interested, but with no access to the public conferences on Tuesday evenings; and
6. Counselling for people who wish to get information beyond the above-mentioned programmed conferences and seminars.
B) Publications
Ruh ve Madde (Spirit and Matter) was a monthly journal which has been published in Turkey since 1960. It contains articles on all types of parapsychological and metapsychical phenomena.
In addition to this monthly, the Metapsychic Investigations and Scientific Research Society is deeply and continuously involved in publishing books on metapsychical and parapsychological research.
Furthermore, the Society regularly contributes written articles and essays on topics dealing with man's true nature and his spiritual development to more than 50 newspapers and magazines throughout the country.
The society also answers letters containing specific enquiries about the field. Some of these, which may be of general interest, are published in Ruh ve Madde for the benefit of all our readers.
ACTIVITIES OF THE METAPSYCHIC INVESTIGATIONS AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH SOCIETY
Metapsychic research of the institutional type was started with the establishment of the Metapsychic Investigations and Scientific Research Society (MISRS). 5. To advance the understanding of events and abilities commonly described as 'psychic' or 'paranormal', in a scientific spirit without prejudice. The Society accomplishes these aims through the promotion of research and the publishing of scholarly reports.
