I became acquainted with the Spirit and Matter Magazine. And later, when I moved to Istanbul for work, I had the opportunity of entering the doors of this society that is the oldest spiritual organisation founded in Turkiye. And hence, my spiritual adventure began.

Since then, I have been a member of this society and the foundation. I assumed the presidency of the society’s board in May 2016.

The Metapsychical Studies and Scientific Research Association (MTIAD) was founded in 1950 by Bedri Ruhselman and his close friends; and is the eldest organization in Turkiye in the field of spirituality. The Bilyay Foundation was also established in 1994 during the presidency of the late Ergün Arıkdal, a former president of MTIAD.
Now, the as the current board members of the society and of the foundation, we continue to work as a team by undertaking all kinds of administrative tasks in every field related to our society’s aims.

Dilek: What kind of work do you mainly deal with within the society and the foundation?
Tülin: I mainly work on international relations, workshops, and organizations; I actively participated in the organization of the 1st and 2nd Istanbul International Parapsychology Conferences in 2005 and 2009. In addition, I am an active member of the Earth Association for Regression Therapy (EARTh), and assist with workshops they organize in collaboration with the association.

 

Dilek: Please give us some more information about MTİAD, which is also the publisher of this book; and especially about Mr. Ruhselman and how this book, or more correctly, this compilation emerged.

Tülin: As I mentioned, this society was founded in 1950 by Bedri Ruhselman, MD; the founder of Neo-Spiritualism. Its purpose was to disseminate Neo-Spiritualist knowledge; conduct spiritist research, and inform people by public conferences, lectures and books on these topics and concepts. With this aim, our society had begun regular publication of the monthly magazine "Ruh ve Madde" (Spirit and Matter) in 1960. Spirit and Matter Magazine were Turkiye’s first monthly periodical focusing on spiritual matters. Its publication continued until 2020.

Looking at Mr. Ruhselman's life, we see that he was interested in spiritual matters, starting from a very young age. Mr. Ruhselman's life story is available in detail on this website but still, let me mention a few interesting details and very significant synchronicities.
First, this interesting composition of his personality: he was a violin virtuoso, a medical doctor, a metapsychical researcher and writer, a dedicated and meticulous seeker of higher truths. He was born in 1898 and started his spiritual journey in a very young age. In one of his earlier books, titled “Spirit and Universe” he writes about his first recalling of one of his past lives. He talks about memories which were more vivid at the beginning but later diminishing, yet even after he reached a certain age, he continued remembering these, knowing that they were different than the dreams he had. We can say that his recollection of such past lives and the influences of these recollections directed him to this field of research.
In order to learn about those interesting and significant synchronicities in Mr. Ruhselman’s life, our readers may watch the first video of The Divine Order and The Universe Reading and Commentary series that we published in our YouTube channel. Of course, they may find the whole series useful while they read the book, as well.
Mr. Ruhselman begins a special spiritual work on September of 1958.  A young man was experiencing some psychic episodes and phenomena like sleepwalking, so a member of the society, Mr. Bilgioğlu brought this young man to the attention of Mr. Ruhselman. And when Mr. Ruhselman worked with this young man to help him by working on his dreams etc., it turned out that this young man, Mr. Atilla Güyer, is a very talented trance medium. Consequently, they started to work on September of 1958 until August of 1959 under the guidance of a spiritual Plan that named themselves as “Önder” (Pioneer). And this book is the resulted compilation made by Mr. Ruhselman, out of all those spiritual communiques.  

Dilek: Please tell us more about the content of this book.
Tülin: It has been kept for 54 years and disclosed in April 2013, and almost thirteen years passed since then; and during this period, we studied the content of the book in our internal study groups, and shared our findings and understanding with the public through our lectures and videos. As a brief summary, I can say that the book starts with the amorphous matter and the constitution of matter. This is not the Creation but how our own universe is created – let me underline this – our own universe, because we read that there are other many universes, many other universe substances. Then how the first influence termed as the original influence coming from the original principle which is from outside of the universe, filtered through the Unitary, that is, through a unity of comprehensions; and how the motion occurs in matter with this original influence coming from the original principle. Also, the relationship with spirit and matter: in the book, spirits are defined as the supra-substance truths, in this way the book give us completely different concepts than our previous knowledge; we used to say “I have a spirit” and now, with the book, spirit turns out to be a supra-substance truth, a truth beyond our universe. And with this incoming influence to matter, matter responds to these influences by changing, by becoming more complex so it can manifest its inherent potential by responding to the influences; and, by the development of those responses, how matter develops in the process; and how matter’s development is related to the evolution and the needs of these supra-substance truths that we cannot fathom now.
So, the book explains us from where we came from as spiritual beings and to where we are going to. Yes, it is an intense reading but so rewarding.

 

Dilek: What are the current activities of the society and the foundation for making this book more accessible, more understandable?
Tülin: We had translated the manuscript in English within a year of the publication of the book, and when we published English edition in 2014, we mailed hundreds of copies to various spiritual centres, scientists, researchers and libraries all over the world; and in 2021, German translation is published. Both editions are available in Amazon.com and other online bookstores.
Currently, we work on a revised English edition, as well as its Spanish edition.
We have an Instagram account and a YouTube channel dedicated to the audio books, videos, podcasts and reels we produce mainly in English to introduce the content of The Divine Order and The Universe to a larger audience.
I had mentioned the Reading and Commentary Series in our YouTube channel. This series were done during Corona pandemic, of course, originally in Turkish. Later, our members translated, summarized and translated the transcripts of those videos for English speaking audience.
And toward the end of 2026, on the weekend of 12 and 13 December, we will organize an online spirituality summit, with local and international speakers sharing their own perspective about the journey of the spiritual being, both in Turkish and English translation.
